Get to Know I.AMRESILIENT

My name is Kyra McGoey and I'm a 22 year old female in the United States of America. I graduated college with a Bachelors degree in English this past May (2022)!!! I have been running @I.AMRESILIENT for a little over 1 year now and I have met some of the best people. You all continue to show me everyday how strong and resilient you are. 

On April 28th 2021, I became a victim of sexual assault. Today, I am a survivor. I have decided to share my story and my journey healing with you all because everybody else failed me. I never thought that something like this would happen to me, you can ask anyone that knows me and they'll tell you how much I've changed since. Like anyone else, i never prepared myself for any of this. But i especially never prepared myself to see him walk away from the entire case with not even a scratch. 

On April 28th 2021, I was raped by a 38 year old man. He found me sleeping and assumed that was what i wanted. I don't yet have the words to describe how I felt and I don't think I will ever have the words to describe it. 

Since that day, my whole life changed. I found out how resilient I was. How strong and unforgiving I am. I especially found this out when my case was dismissed due to a technicality. I might never get the justice that I know I deserved but the court or him can never silence me. I will continue to fight for all of the other survivors out there who either didn't get the justice they deserved, haven't told anyone, or are silenced. I believe you I see you and I'm fighting for you.
